The Bolton & Menk Construction SkillBridge program aims to train civil construction inspectors. ABOUT THE JOB

This SkillBridge Program will be for 3 months. Below is the proposed plan for the Bolton & Menk Construction Program Internship:Month 1 – Introduction to Bolton & Menk, Construction Observation, and SafetyProtocolsThe key objectives of the internship during this time are as follows:• Meet with mentor and other construction staff• Overview of SkillBridge Program opportunity and expectations• Complete new hire safety training• Schedule and attend in-person orientation during program timeframe• Understand basics of construction observation and inspection• Review plans and specifications to determine work requirements• Measure work site dimensions, verify alignment, elevation of structures, pipe, andpavements• Observe construction operationsMonth 2: Expanding Basic UnderstandingThe key objectives of the internship during this time are as follows:• Performs detailed construction observation and project documentation• Evaluate construction projects to determine compliance with external standards,regulations, and technical specifications• Inspect work sites to identify potential environmental or safety hazards• Record operational or environmental data• Inspect completed work to ensure proper installation• Assist with survey operations as needed• Measure and record detailed quantities for pay items to the Contractor• Coordinate with Construction crews, surveyors, and BMI staff on construction relatedrequests and scheduling items• Interact with residents and stakeholders on the project siteMonths 3: Drafting Exposure and Final Internship Wrap-upThe key objectives of the internship during this time are as follows:• Continue construction observation duties as needed• Exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D/Microstation software• Explore different potential job roles and different disciplines/work groups• Apply for full-time job roles and opportunities• Wrap up internship and next steps

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review compliance with project plans and specifications
  • Prepare daily observation reports
  • Assist with project documentation
  • Performs detailed construction observation and project documentation
  • Evaluate construction projects to determine compliance with external standards, regulations, and technical specifications
  • Inspect work sites to identify potential environmental or safety hazards
  • Record operational or environmental data
  • Inspect completed work to ensure proper installation
  • Assist with survey operations as needed
  • Measure and record detailed quantities for pay items to the Contractor
  • Coordinate with Construction crews, surveyors, and BMI staff on construction related requests and scheduling items
  • Interact with residents and stakeholders on the project site
  • Continue construction observation duties as needed
  • Exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D/Microstation software

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Participant is 18 years or older
  • Has a valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass a motor vehicle record check
  • Previous civil infrastructure construction experience preferred

Participant is 18 years or older, has a valid driver's license and the ability to pass a motor vehicle record check. Previous civil infrastructure construction experience preferred.
