The Maine Turnpike Authority offers a SkillBridge training opportunity for transitioning service members as an E-ZPass Customer Service Specialist. This program allows service members to translate military competencies—such as administrative precision, clear communication, and structured problem-solving—into a career within civilian public service and customer operations.Under the guidance of the ETC Coordinator, you will develop comprehensive, specialized knowledge of the E-ZPass database system, personal accounts, and commuter discount policies. The focus of this role is delivering professional customer support via telephone, managing database logistics, and executing secure financial transactions. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional seeking to transition into civil service, logistics, or operations management.
Core Responsibilities & Training Objectives:In this SkillBridge role, you will undergo structured training to manage the E-ZPass customer service ecosystem. Your daily duties and operational objectives will include: Customer Support & Communication: Answer inbound patron phone calls to resolve questions, clarify policies, and address concerns in a professional, courteous manner. Database & Data Management: Learn and utilize the System i E-ZPass Database System to execute account creation, update patron demographics, review payment histories, and maintain highly accurate records. Financial Transactions & Compliance: Master the rules and regulations governing credit card processing and E-ZPass programs. Securely accept telephone payments for commuter renewals and debit balance replenishments, and process requests for account charge reimbursements. Account Strategy: Analyze customer needs through direct consultation to determine and recommend the most appropriate E-ZPass program or discount plan for enrollment.Operational Logistics: Assist with administrative workflows, including the scanning, processing, and digital storage of applications, replenishment forms, and correspondence. Provide support at the E-ZPass Retail Counter or with organization-wide mailings as required.Interprofessional Collaboration: Interact daily with patrons, MTA staff, and management, utilizing strong oral and written communication skills to establish collaborative civilian working relationships.
Service Status: Must be an active-duty service member within 180 days of separation (EAS/EAOS/RETSHO). Command Authorization: Must obtain written approval from their Unit Commander prior to start date: Conduct: Must be in good standing and eligible for an Honorable Discharge.
