The IT & Cybersecurity Associate program is a 26-week technical training track designed to develop proficiency in enterprise IT operations and defense industrial base (DIB) security standards. The trainee will function as a junior-to-mid-level technical specialist, learning to maintain Systecon’s internal network, manage user endpoints, and execute the technical requirements of the NIST 800-171 framework. The program emphasizes hands-on technical support and the rigorous documentation required for CMMC/C3PAO audit readiness. By the conclusion of the 180-day period, the trainee will be equipped to perform automated system audits using Python, manage cloud-based identity and device policies via Microsoft Intune, and resolve complex infrastructure issues while maintaining strict adherence to federal cybersecurity regulations.
As an IT & Cybersecurity Associate, you will transition your military technical experience into a specialized role supporting a leading analytics and optimization firm. You will work directly with our IT & Software Development team in Arlington, VA, to ensure our infrastructure is resilient, scalable, and compliant with federal mandates. This is a hands-on role where you will balance day-to-day IT troubleshooting with long-term cybersecurity project work.Key Responsibilities:- Systems Administration: Assist in the maintenance and optimization of company networks, physical/virtual servers, and the Arlington office server room.- Endpoint Management: Utilize Microsoft Intune for the deployment, configuration, and security of company laptops and mobile devices.- Identity & Access: Manage user accounts and permissions via Active Directory and Entra ID, ensuring the principle of least privilege is maintained.- Cybersecurity Compliance: Support the internal audit process by mapping technical controls to NIST 800-171 standards and preparing artifacts for C3PAO assessment.- Documentation: Contribute to the development and upkeep of System Security Plans (SSPs) and Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms).- Automation: Develop and refine Python scripts to automate routine data collection, system monitoring, and compliance reporting tasks.- User Support: Provide direct technical assistance to Systecon staff, resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues in a hybrid work environment.

Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a scientific or technical disciple +3 years of relevant experience- Technical Proficiency Factors: Cybersecurity - In-depth knowledge of NIST 800-171 frameworks and proven experience creating and managing related documentation (SSPs, POA&Ms). Experience preparing for and supporting C3PAO audits is highly desirable / IT Admin - Mastery of Windows Domain management (Active Directory, Group Policy), Microsoft Intune, network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and hardware/software troubleshooting. / Scripting - Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages for task automation, system optimization, and data manipulation. - Professional Attributes: Self-Starter and Autonomous - Must be a proactive problem-solver who can take the initiative, propose innovative solutions, and manage competing priorities without direct supervision. / Communication - Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical staff and document complex technical information.
