Start your alternative licensure pathway early. Skillbridge Interns will be placed in a nearby school and spend their time under the guidance and mentorship of a licensed educator building strong foundational skills needed to become a classroom teacher. They will enroll in ASPIRE to Teach, an alternative teacher preparation program, and complete coursework alongside their classroom experience. At the end of their internship, they will seek a full-time teaching position and continue their preparation program until they meet the requirements for licensure.
Skillbridge interns will begin their experience observing the classroom and teacher. As their internship progresses, they will increase their responsibilities to ultimately plan, deliver, adjust, and reflect upon student outcomes associated with instructional design. They will be responsible for managing classroom dynamics, building strong relationships with students, colleagues, administration, and community stakeholders. They will be expected to perform all duties associated with being a teacher/student teacher in a school building. Additionally, they will be expected to maintain appropriate communication and meet deadlines associated with their instructional provider.

Cost of the ASPIRE to Teach program is $6,850 which can be paid by the GI Bill or out-of-pocket. Cost will be paid in two installments - one at the beginning of the SkillBridge internship and one at the beginning of the Alternative License pathway
