Welding Technician, every new hire onboarded for Welding positions in Garner, Kanawha and Hastings locations will be required to successfully complete an Internal Welder Training class.Individuals will receive both class room training, as well as hands on training in the following topics.1. Gas Metal Arc Welding Applied to Mild Steels Advantages and limitations to GMAW process Four modes of metal transfer Difference between base metal melting and wire melting and how each is controlled Relationship between wire feed speed, amperage, voltage, and arc length The eight essential welding variables to control weld productivity and quality GMAW procedures GMAW common defects3. Pulsed Arc Welding Advantages of pulsed arc welding Parameters of pulsed arc welding Disadvantages of pulsed arc welding.4. Welding Health and Safety5. Requirements of a weld Terms and definitions How weld size is specified How to use a welding gauge Difference between weld discontinuity and a defect Types of defects encountered in welding6. Welding symbols7. Workmanship performance General provisions Weld classification Assembly and fit up Weld quality Inspection Corrections of base weld and base metal defects Finish grinding and sanding Summary chart of weld discontinuities
ABOUT THE JOB
At this time the core positions offered would be assembly technician, electrical assembly technician, welding technician, technical service representative, chassis preparation technician, however these positions are excellent entry level position with opportunities for advancement. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Successfully complete an Internal Welder Training class with both classroom and hands-on training.
- Participate in classroom exercises, demonstrations, and experiments.
- Complete a final examination including written and actual weld tests.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Adherence to the Stellar Industries handbook, respect & responsibility policy, and attendance policy.
- Basic mechanical skills (preferred).
- Ability to read tape measure, familiarity with hand and/or power tools and blueprints (preferred).

Upon completion of the training, individuals complete a final examination both written and actual weld tests. Any items missed on the written test will be revisited to ensure the individual fully understands the material. The final hands on weld test is a pass or fail criteria. The individual will not be certified or allowed to weld for Stellar industries without successfully passing. 3 attempts is generally the maximum allowable to complete the test successfully. Each welder must recertify every three years to maintain compliance and continue to weld for Stellar industries.
