We are seeking a Contract & Proposal Writing Intern through the DoW SkillBridge program to support growth in Department of War (DoW) and Special Operations Forces (SOF) markets, aligned to our Contract and Proposal Writer training plan. This role is targeted at officers and civilians from the SOF contracting officer (KO) community—those who have planned, awarded, and administered contracts in support of USSOCOM, TSOCs, or SOF components—and want to translate that experience into civilian business development, capture, and proposal work.You will work alongside experienced BD, capture, and contracts leaders to convert your knowledge of SOF acquisition processes, source selections, and operational contract support into qualified opportunities, competitive strategies, and high quality proposals.
During this SkillBridge internship, you will:• Conduct market and account research on DoW and SOCOM organizations, with emphasis on SOF AT&L, program offices, and contracting activities.• Help build account plans that reflect SOF acquisition authorities, decision chains, and key stakeholders (KOs, PCs, PMs, PEOs, requiring activities).• Identify and qualify opportunities in SAM.gov and other sources, using your understanding of requirements packages, evaluation criteria, and contract types.• Support planning and execution of customer and KO community engagements (one on ones, industry days, forums), including prep materials, meeting objectives, notes, and follow up.• Assist capture teams in shaping pursuits by documenting customer pain points, evaluation drivers, acquisition strategies (e.g., BPAs, IDIQs, OTAs), and likely source selection approaches (best value, LPTA, etc.).• Contribute to proposal efforts by helping interpret sections L/M, building compliance matrices, and drafting or refining narrative content from a government evaluator’s perspective.• Support development of pricing and business volume narratives that clearly describe assumptions, CLIN structures, and risk from the KO and COR oversight standpoint.• Participate in training on ethics, procurement integrity, and organizational conflicts of interest as they relate to moving from a KO role into industry BD/contracting.This position is directly mapped to a structured 12 week Contract and Proposal Writer training plan that progresses from fundamentals and opportunity analysis to proposal development, post award administration concepts, and a capstone project.
Basic Qualifications• Currently serving on active duty and eligible for the DoW SkillBridge program; command approval required prior to start.• Recent experience in a contracting or acquisition role supporting DoW or SOF (e.g., KO, contract specialist, acquisition staff, or similar).• Familiarity with FAR/DFARS, source selection processes, and contract administration.• Strong written and verbal communication skills.• Comfort with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and collaboration tools.________________________________________Preferred Experience & Skills• Direct support to USSOCOM, TSOCs, SOF AT&L, or SOF aligned program offices or contracting activities.• Experience with complex services or technology contracts, IDIQs/BPAs, task order competitions, or performance based contracts.• Participation in source selection boards, evaluation teams, or major acquisition reviews.• Prior exposure to industry engagement, such as industry days, RFIs, draft RFP reviews, or one on one vendor sessions.
