Wharton-Smith, Inc. is proud to support the DoD SkillBridge program and is seeking disciplined, detail-oriented transitioning service members for a Field Engineer opportunity within our Commercial Division in the Pensacola, FL area.This hands-on role is designed to translate military leadership, planning, and technical experience into the commercial construction environment. The Field Engineer will support day-to-day field operations and work closely with the Project Superintendent, Foremen, and project team to ensure safe, efficient, and well-documented construction activities.This position is ideal for service members with experience in engineering, construction, logistics, operations, or technical supervision who are preparing for a civilian career in construction management.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssist field leadership with site layout, coordination, and daily construction activitiesSupport planning and execution of work by reviewing drawings and specificationsPrepare and manage field purchase orders and material trackingMaintain accurate project logs, reports, and schedulesIdentify field issues and assist in preparing Requests for Information (RFIs)Review, process, and track shop drawings and submittalsMaintain as-built drawings reflecting actual field conditionsCollect and organize Operations & Maintenance (O&M) documentationAssist with subcontractor scope review and coordinationSupport material purchasing, expediting, and deliveriesDistribute project documentation and maintain document controlAttend project meetings, record meeting minutes, and distribute action itemsAssist with short-term and long-term schedulingUphold Wharton-Smith safety standards and jobsite proceduresPreferred Military Experience (No Degree Required)This role values military experience over formal education.
