The Supply Chain Management Service at TVHS is collaborating with the DOD SkillBridge program office to develop a VA SkillBridge program at Nashville and Murfreesboro, TN. Instituting an Inventory Management Specialist, Purchasing Agent and Supply Technician SkillBridge program at TVHS will enable VA to select, train and provide civilian job experience totransitioning Service members interested in careers at VA. This program will: Establish a program that develops a pipeline ofVA-trained Logisticians; Provide a structured training/internship opportunity that supports transitioning Service members’career goals and civilian transition; Support transitioning Service members in pursuing careers with VA and fill hard to recruit /retain positions with dedicated who understand the value of a career ladder and upward mobility.

ABOUT THE JOB

Supply Technicians (Medical) work in the Medical Supply Distribution areas of Supply Chain Management within the VAHealth Care System. As a Supply Technician, you will provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations,and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including, but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile medical supplies,instrument sets and equipment. Inventory Management Specialists (EX and NX) serve as a Property Manager in the Material Management Division or Inventory Manager in the Commodities Division of the Logistics Service in the VA Health Care System responsible for the inventory and lifecycle management of all expendable supplies (EX) and non expendable (NX) equipmentin the assigned area(s). Purchasing Agents serve in the Acquisition Section of Supply Chain Management within the VA Health Care System providing purchasing support for all classes of supply purchased by the Healthcare System.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supply Technicians provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets, and equipment.
• Inventory Management Specialists serve as a Property Manager in the Material Management Division or Inventory Manager in the Commodities Division, responsible for the inventory and lifecycle management of all expendable supplies and non-expendable equipment.
• Purchasing Agents provide purchasing support for all classes of supply purchased by the Healthcare System.
