Individuals will gain skills to become skilled trades worker who specialize in joining metal parts together using various techniques to create strong and durable bond to complete assigned projects.
Aids higher grade employees engaged in welding metals and alloys. Assists in the operation of a variety of manual welding processes to weld all types of commonly used metals and alloys of various sizes, shapes and thicknesses. Assists in setting up machines assembles the parts to be welded and makes the required welds following explicit instructions. Assists in performing a variety of other work operations incidental to their welding duties, such as brazing, soldering, flame and arc-cutting, and surface hardening under close supervision. Performs basic welding techniques using a variety of tools, equipment and methods to assist journey level workers in creating and/or repairing various products. Reads and interprets blueprints and other diagrams to create finished products requiring basic welding skills under close supervision to ensure simple work products are completed accurately.
