The Titusville Police Department has established a Skillbridge Intern program designed to introduce service members to the law enforcement profession with the intent to potentially transition them to Police Officer Recruit position or Police Officer position at the completion of the program. The Titusville Police Department has created a training plan that encompasses many aspects of the responsibilities and expectations of a position in law enforcement to include patrol operations, investigations, code enforcement, school resource officer, and communications. The goal of this internship is to provide the DoD SkillBridge Intern with the tools necessary to make an informed decision for a civilian career path. Service members who complete the internship will be better equipped to step into a position as a Police Officer or employed as a Police Officer. Recruit entering the academy to begin after the intern departs active duty.
A Police Officer is responsible for protecting life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances within the assigned jurisdiction. This role involves the suppression and detection of crime, apprehension of law violators, and the general enforcement of laws and ordinances. Officers work according to department rules and regulations and are assigned to various duties based on department needs.
