In this program, the participant will be responsible for learning and applying software engineering principles. The program emphasizes the full software development lifecycle (requirements, design, implementation, testing, and deployment) with hands-on experience in Python, C++, APIs, and DevOps practices. Participants will contribute to development efforts supporting modeling and simulation (M&S) environments and applying software concepts to real-world engineering challenges.
Design, develop, test, and integrate software applications using modern programming languages such as Python and C++. Collaborate as an active member of an Agile Scrum development team using Git-based workflows and iterative development cycles. Develop software to meet mission requirements that clearly define application specifications, implement and maintain appropriate documentation, and write test suites that ensure functionality and code quality. Participate in peer code reviews, sprint retrospectives, and backlog refinement to align technical execution with project objectives. Create and maintain APIs and data interfaces for internal tools and modeling systems. Support automation and CI/CD integration using GitLab CI or Jenkins pipelines. Assist in developing scripts and utilities for modeling and simulation environments, including AFSIM, as a secondary applied domain.
