The Handpiece and Small Equipment Technician I is responsible for performing basic service, repair, and support on a limited portfolio of medical/dental handpiece and/or small equipment. This may include but is not limited to: high-speed handpieces, basic attachments and/or heads, basic sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners & scalers, and various small equipment as assigned by Supervisor. Additionally, performs other task assigned by lead or management.
Job DescriptionKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Performing basic service and repairs on a limited portfolio of handpieces and/or small equipment as assigned by Supervisor Performs diagnosis and failure analysis using appropriate test equipment and tooling. Documents device evaluation, service recommendations, parts required and preventative maintenance feedback on service work orders. Repairs and performs quality testing of products to established specifications as required.May provide technical support on a limited portfolio of products as requiredPerforms other tasks as assigned by lead or management.SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Ability to read, understand and perform standard procedures and work instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Basic electrical / mechanical skills desired. Basic math and logic skills required. Basic computer skills and software use desired. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.GENERAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES: Willingness to learn repair of more advanced products.Ability to work successfully in a team environment.Ability to work without direct supervision.Upholds company policies and standards.MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE: 0- 6 months professional work experience with proficiency in relevant mechanical trades preferred.PREFERRED EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Travel – typically not required.Position typically works in a manufacturing environment on site where environmental conditions are stable. May be exposed to higher levels of noise typical in a manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit or stand for extended periods of time; use hands to finger, and operate manual and non-manual machinery; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, stretch and lift up to 20 pounds. Position requires that the employee use eye protection using certain equipment/machinery.
