This 16-week SkillBridge program provides hands-on training in mechanical service, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting to prepare transitioning Service members for civilian technician roles. Participants train under direct supervision in both shop and field environments, developing technical skills, safety practices, and professional work habits required for employment in installation, maintenance, and repair occupations.
The Service Technician performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment and related systems under supervision. Responsibilities include inspecting equipment components, identifying wear and failure points, assisting with repairs and adjustments, supporting chemical and fluid delivery systems, documenting service work accurately, and communicating professionally with customers and team members. Work is performed in both shop and field environments using hand and power tools while following established safety procedures.
Participants must be within their authorized SkillBridge participation window and obtain command approval prior to program start. Applicants should demonstrate mechanical aptitude, professionalism, and the ability to work safely in a hands-on service environment. A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required due to local travel to customer sites.
