Grow With Gordon offers a hands-on Ecological Landscaping & Garden Design training opportunity through a structured SkillBridge program. Participants will gain real-world experience working on active projects involving ecological landscaping, food-producing gardens, and long-term land stewardship.This program combines field-based instruction, on-the-job training, and practical skill development to prepare participants for careers in landscaping, ecological design, and environmental work.
Participants will work alongside experienced crew members to design, install, and maintain ecological landscapes and food-producing garden systems in the Kokomo, Indiana area.Responsibilities include:Site preparation, planting, and garden installationSoil building, compost application, and mulchingPruning, weeding, and seasonal maintenanceAssisting with landscape construction and installation projectsSupporting community garden and stewardship sitesParticipants will receive structured instruction in ecological landscaping, plant systems, and long-term maintenance practices. This is a physically active, outdoor role focused on hands-on learning and real-world skill development.
Must be able to perform physical outdoor work, work in varying weather conditions, and demonstrate willingness to learn hands-on skills.

Upon completion of the SkillBridge program, participants may transition directly into Grow With Gordon’s U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship in Ecological Landscaping & Garden Design. This registered apprenticeship is approved for GI Bill benefits, enabling eligible veterans to earn wages while receiving monthly housing allowance and other VA support as they continue developing professional skills.
