Investigator / Office of Chief Security Officer / DHS
Plans, conducts and prepares reports on, a full range of investigations including those of an extremely sensitive and complex nature. Exhibits the use of a high degree of ingenuity and initiative while conducting investigations. Assists in the management and assists in the conduct of sensitive investigations. Assists other investigators in investigations. Plans, conducts and assists in investigations having inter-agency, national and international dimensions. Typical investigations include theft or misuse of government property (to include classified information); threats against employees; threats to national welfare and security; sabotage of DHS systems or programs, threats to DHS facilities and locations; incident response to attacks on DHS facilities; and attempted elicitation of DHS employees by organized terrorist groups and/or foreign governments. Responsible for assisting in developing facts and evidence, gathering information and intelligence, conducting analyses, preparing and executing warrants, effecting arrests and preparing detailed investigative reports used in the prosecution of defendants. This includes eliciting information from individuals of diverse backgrounds such as government employees, police officials and the general public. Assists other investigators involved in developing informants and other sources of information leading to the arrest, apprehension and/or detention of suspects. Manages and provides guidance to other investigators responsible for making arrests, executing search warrants, testifying in court, interviewing witnesses and developing evidence that substantiates allegations. The incumbent may conduct surveillance work and operate under arduous conditions for long hours.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful completion of pre-employment background investigation.
