This hands-on role is designed for a transitioning service member through the DoD Skill Bridge program, offering a unique opportunity to apply military-honed skills in discipline, leadership, and operational efficiency to a dynamic corporate environment. As a Cross-Functional Analyst, you will build, document, and optimize core processes across headquarters while gaining practical exposure to the contracting world. This includes shadowing contract negotiations, reviewing compliance requirements, and understanding government and commercial contracting workflows to bridge your military expertise with civilian business operations. You will partner with leaders in Project/Program Management, Finance & Accounting, HR, IT/InfoSec, and Contracts to standardize operations, reduce inefficiencies, and drive scalable growth. By mapping workflows, designing improvements, and implementing changes, you will help ensure mission-critical tasks are executed with precision, much like in a military operation. This position provides valuable civilian experience, networking opportunities, and skill-building in business operations, setting you up for a successful post-service career.
Overall: Build and standardize processes• Map and analyze existing workflows using tools like SIPOC, swim lane diagrams, and RACI matrices to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for enhancement.• Author, maintain, and version-control Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), checklists, templates, and job aids in shared repositories (e.g., SharePoint/OneDrive), ensuring they align with best practices for scalability and compliance.• Establish cross-functional controls, handoffs, and governance structures to eliminate rework, mitigate risks, and streamline inter-departmental collaboration.• Facilitate targeted working sessions, pilot process changes, gather feedback from stakeholders, and iterate for rapid implementation.• Develop updated cadences and document control protocols to maintain a reliable "single source of truth" for all operational materials.Cross-Departmental Support & Contracting Exposure:• Program & Project Management: Establish operational rhythms such as dashboards, daily standups, and risk/issue tracking logs; assist in developing schedules, monitoring deliverables, and applying agile methodologies adapted from military planning.• Contracts Management: Dive into the contracting ecosystem by reviewing QC checks, risk management procedures, and performance metrics for projects and deliverables; shadow contract lifecycle activities (e.g., RFP responses, negotiations, and compliance audits) to gain insights into federal and commercial contracting practices.• Business Development: Leverage KPIs to create performance trackers and generate weekly/monthly scorecards, providing data-driven insights to support growth initiatives.• Finance/Accounting & Admin: Refine processes like travel management, expense reporting, and procurement; identify and implement automation tools to enhance efficiency and reduce administrative burdens.• HR & Onboarding: Align new hire onboarding with 90-day assimilation plans, including customized training checklists and role-specific handbooks, drawing on military transition experiences for seamless integration.• IT/Cyber/Tools: Contribute to CMMC certification efforts by documenting cybersecurity processes, supporting compliance audits, and recommending tools that bolster information security—leveraging any prior military cyber or IT operations knowledge
